Alamo Sign Comes Down from Kalamazoo Theater
The cold, harsh reality of Kalamazoo losing its Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was felt around the city yesterday (March 28) afternoon as the theater marquee containing the Alamo name was torn down.
After Alamo announced their closure earlier this year, it was a tickling timebomb for movie lovers in the city, who reacted with shock and an outraged sadness on social media when the surprise announcement was made. More recently the kitchen at the theater was closed, several days before the last movie was slated to be shown.
The most visual display to date of our impending loss of the theater was a crew who showed up on an otherwise pleasant early spring Tuesday afternoon to remove the A-L-A-M-O from the theater's marquee.
