Michigan Department of Transportation is working extensively with the U.S. Army on testing autonomous vehicles on Michigan highways.

The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) has teamed up with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to test self-driving vehicles on I-69.

Part of their "Big Ideas to Serve the Planet," Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced the details of the initiative which has been underway for some time in Port Huron, 60 miles Northeast of Detroit. The next phase is scheduled for September and October 2017 and will include a trip to Canada across the Blue Water Bridge.
