Kalamazoo area authorities continue to investigate after a man was found dead in the floodwaters on Sunday.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that they were called to the 500 block of Riverview Dr. just after 11am Sunday, after someone said they saw a dead body. Police say they did find the “obviously deceased” man lying in the water, and recovered the body. His car was also found submerged nearby, with help from the Kalamazoo County Dive Team.

Right now, the KDPS is not giving any further details, but this incident remains under investigation.

The flooding in Kalamazoo has caused numerous problems throughout the region, including the closure of many roads and damage to homes and businesses. As of Sunday night, the National Weather Service says that the Kalamazoo River was at around 10.7 feet, still well above the flood stage. However, the NWS also said that the waters have begun to recede. Kalamazoo County remains under a flood warning until Tuesday evening.
