It's debatable whether this is truly the best Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream in America, but it would be hard to find more beautiful packaging. But the one thing about this Mackinac Island Fudge Ice Cream is that you can't find it in Michigan.

Many ice cream makers use the name of Michigan's Mackinac Island and the community's iconic fudge to market its ice cream.

But this premium Mackinac Island Fudge, pictured above with a classic horse-drawn carriage and Grand Hotel is from Florida-based Publix Supermarkets.

The flavor isn't something you can can find all the time. The limited edition flavor only appears in stores every two or three years. Michigan ex-pats living in the Southeast stock up when their home-state favorite shows up in stores.

According to this discussion on the Publix Facebook page, the flavor is currently available as of the spring of 2018.
