Walk, learn, listen and watch: September is National Suicide Prevention Month- here are 4 things you can do locally to reach out and help reduce the risk.

    Suicide Prevention Walk

    • Location: Bronson Park, downtown Kalamazoo
    • Time: 8:00 a.m. registration/ 9 a.m. walk
    • Cost: $30 per person

    This 5K-cause walk will raise awareness for suicide prevention, allow people to connect with each other, and provide critical funds for Gryphon Place to support the essential programs they offer

    "Messages of Hope"

    • Date: September 28, 2017
    • Location: Cityscape, downtown Kalamazoo
    • Time: 6:00 p.m.
    • Cost: Free

    Speak it Forward, an arm of the poetry slam/live performance group Kinetic Affect will offer workshops and perform on September 28.

    Cost is free but tickets may be required.

    Special Training

    ASSIST training will teach how to recognize people at risk of suicide and instruct how to talk, listen, understand and intervene in a life-affirming way.

    Mental Health First Aid offers training on how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health related crisis or problem.

    Yoga at the Fitness Spot

    Relax and unwind with an introductory yoga class. This is another free event, but reservations are suggested.
