50,000 Gallons of Poo Poo Water Just Spilled Into the Battle Creek River
Raw sewage and our state's rivers are a combination we ever want to see together, but that's what just happened to the Battle Creek River at Bellevue.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the village of Bellevue's sewage treatment facility became overwhelmed by the massive amount of rain the area received this week.
"I would avoid playing in, fishing or drinking water from the Battle Creek River for a day or two," village Manager Travis Brininstool said. "The chances of anything happening are very slim, because it was diluted."
"Our pumps were running full," Brininstool said."It was just overwhelmed with the amount of water coming in."
While the Battle Creek River does flow into the Kalamazoo, the water should dilute the raw sewage to a point where it won't do any harm.
