Cubs Home Opener Snowed Out at Wrigley Field; Sox Play Ball in Chicago
It was a tale of two cities in Chicago as the Cubs' home opener was snowed out yet the Sox played a home game just 10 miles away.
The Cubs have a 5-4 record on the 2018 season but those have all been road games. They still haven't played at home. A series against the Pittsburgh Pirates was scheduled to begin on April 9 at Wrigley Field but snow forced the teams to postpone the game.
ABC 7 Chicago was on the scene and says that the grounds crew did everything they could to get Wrigley Field in playing shape but Mother Nature won the day. Things were different at Guaranteed Rate Field on Chicago's South side as the Sox took to the mound, losing to the Rays 4-5.
Although it cancelled the game, snow didn't dampen Cubs fans spirit as many spent the day in local bars and a few even ventured into "enemy territory" to watch the Sox play.
