Gov. Whitmer Says Stay At Home Order is NOT OPTIONAL
Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the stay at home order is not optional and says you are breaking the law if you do otherwise.
According to WOOD, Whitmer says the stay at home is not a recommendation and unless you are going to the grocery store, pharmacy or you are an essential service worker you should be staying home.
Whitmer said in an address on Thursday, "if we don't all do our part, more people are going to get sick and more people are going to die."
If you are any business that is not essential then you have to close up shop. If you are unclear who the governor deems essential then click here to view the list. (ETA: Governor Whitmer clarified who is essential and who is not further in an address on Friday.)
I've been seeing a stronger police presence and my guess soon they will be pulling people over to check if they have not already started.
