It's National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week across the country, so a number of outlets across the country are doing their part to aid in bringing this to everyone's attention.

Not to be forgotten, Buddy's Pizza in Portage is taking part this year, and donating locally.

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week began on November 12 and runs through November 20. It's part of a nationwide effort to help feed those in need and provide shelter for people who are homeless.

More than 700 locations across the country take part, with millions of dollars raised each year, contributed to multiple outlets to help. It was founded in 1975 at Villanova University, and usually sees hundreds of thousands of participants.

This year, one of those participants is Buddy's Pizza in Portage. From now, until the end of Wednesday, Nov. 16th, Buddy's will be donating $1 for every pizza sold.

"In honor of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Buddy's Pizza Portage is donating $1 from every pizza sold during Nov. 14-16 to Housing Resources Inc, a Kalamazoo nonprofit that provides housing solutions for individuals and families."

Yes... you can buy pizza, AND do something good for the community at the same time!

Housing Resources Inc. is a non-profit located in Kalamazoo County and provides housing solutions for individuals and families during a housing crisis.

"Our mission is the assurance of housing for socially or economically vulnerable persons in Kalamazoo County. Our services are designed to stabilize households experiencing homelessness and help those in jeopardy of losing their housing."

Housing Resources Inc. also takes direct donations, too... that's assuming you don't want a tasty pizza with your donation.
