Lansing Bourbon Fest

A good bourbon is delicious, and more than 100 of them will be available for tasting at the Lansing Bourbon Fest this Friday (10/14) from 6pm to 10pm indoors at Jackson Field. If you'd prefer beer or wine, there'll be a selection of those available as well as some non-alcoholic choices. Don't get the wrong idea - the Lansing Bourbon Fest will also feature food trucks, live music, and a variety of vendors as well.


Eastown Howl-Oween Pawty

This one's for the dogs! Wilcox Park in Grand Rapids will host the free Eastown Howl-Oween Pawty from noon to 4pm on Saturday (10/15). Bring your pups and take part in the pet costume contest or maybe the dog photo booth. You might even win a gift basket or other cool prizes! (There'll be a beer tent too, you know, for thirsty dog moms and dads.)


Wicked Plants Vendor Faire & Halloween Party

Did you ever dissect an owl pellet in biology class? Chances are you didn't do something this cool with what you found. The Wicked Plants Vendor Faire & Halloween Party is planned for Saturday (10/15). Dissect an owl pellet and make a curiosity jar out of the bones you collect, along with dried flowers and other interesting items. The Vendor Faire runs from 10am to 5pm, with the Halloween Party to follow from 6pm to 11pm. It's at The Flower Market in Monroe.

Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi hosts the Motor City Comic Con Friday through Sunday (10/14 through 10/16). Highlights include a screening of the original Hocus Pocus and commentary with stars Vinnessa Shaw, Omri Katz, and Jason Marsden; and a special Doctor Who reunion with stars Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston. Will there be cosplay contests? Of course! Panels and Q&As, autographs and photo ops galore.
