MICHIGAN ‘LOST’ TOWN: Jeddo, in St. Clair County
Here’s another ‘lost’ town you can visit in Michigan’s Thumb: the town of Jeddo. This town lies in St. Clair County’s Grant Township, just 2 ½ miles north of Blaine, another ‘lost’ Michigan town.
A.S. Potter settled here in the early-mid 1800’s and he dubbed the area “Potter’s Corners.” Some years passed, and a post office was constructed and began operations in 1859. The community was now known as “Pottersburg” and finally re-renamed “Jeddo” in 1864.
As with the town of Blaine, the Pere Marquette Railroad ran through the west part of town. Along the now long-gone tracks were a coal shed, depot, elevator, and pickle factory (SEE PHOTOS BELOW).
Jeddo is another cool little ‘lost’ Michigan town that makes a great addition to your Michigan Thumb roadtrip!
