Paw Paw and Lawton Schools Join Mattawan Lockdown
Just after 8 AM, there was an officer-involved shooting in Mattawan sparking local schools to lock down campuses.
Local schools went into lockdown in Paw Paw, Lawton and Mattawan as a precaution after a shooting in Mattawan. WWMT has reported,
Friday morning after 8 a.m. Michigan State Police tell us there was an officer-involved shooting near Main Street and West McGillen Ave. A Mattawan police officer fired their weapon.
Newschannel 3 confirms there were three suspects total. MSP says a woman was was taken into custody. She is suffering from gunshot injuries and is being taken to a Kalamazoo hospital. Two male suspects are still on the loose. MSP believes they are on foot. Law enforcement from across the area are searching for them.
Michael Dahlinger, Principal for Paw Paw High Scool said: "This is just a precautionary measure and there is no need for parents to react or change their daily routine".
Update @ 10:15: The incident that caused the lockdown in Mattawan is now over and lockdowns are being lifted.
