WWMT, NewsChannel 3 is reporting that FedEx has confirmed it will take over the planned Portage Spartan Distribution Center at 6701 Portage Road. The report says the move could mean up to 900 new jobs.

The location is along Portage Road between Kenco Logistics and Stryker Corp. The appeal of the site is its proximity to Interstate 94, plus being a Brownfield project, the cost. According to the report, the hope is to have the facility up and running in less than two years.

The report quotes the FedEx spokesperson, David Westrick, who said "The new facility is part of a nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network,"
