We Have To Talk About South Haven Girls
A 2013 trip to South Haven stimulated Tony Ferrari to write a song about beach babes of this Lake Michigan town.
Self-described singer/songwriter/performer/pizza enthusiast Tony Ferrari explains in his Michigan tour diaries video that a 2013 trip to the Waterfront Film Festival provided the inspiration for 'South Haven Girls.' "I fell in love with the town, I fell in love with the people and it just inspired me to write this song."
The bouncy tune begins inexplicably in a railroad car near the South Haven drawbridge with the protagonist yearning for simpler times and fantasizing about settling down with a local girl.
Take me back to the time where I could live in a simple world.
Where I could just settle down with a pretty South Haven girl.
And take her back to the caboose (boose)
Baby, take a chance and make her loose (loose)
Now, there's no tellin' what we're gonna do (do)
with South Haven girls.
The track is on an album called 'Gentlemen' but his intentions seem less than honorable.
