Michigan native Glenn Frey was born on November 6, 1948 in Detroit. He was an American singer, songwriter, actor and founding member of the rock band the Eagles.

The Eagles played the Grand Ole Opry House on Sunday night (Oct. 29), as a special event to promote SiriusXM's Hotel California channel. The Eagles-centric satellite radio channel will launch in mid-November and stay on air through the holidays.

Reinvigorated with an expanded lineup following the passing of co-founder Glenn Frey, the Eagles have started building out a new tour calendar.

Glenn Frey's partnership with Don Henley formed the band's centerpiece, but they've gone on without him.
